Welcome to my website!
This is the first time since 2004 that I have updated my
website.
OMG can you believe it? I guess not much has changed in all these
years.
Or has there? Let me see... in short.
1. I quit the train
catering job and started a new carreer as tram driver
2. Because of my work I
can't go to Feyenoord games anymore
3. The canaries you see on this website
are not alive anymore
4. I only travel by train to visit my parents
5. ^^
So obviously I've moved out and live in my own appartment now
^^
Because I don't want to start ignoring my 'history' I'm not going
to delete
whole bunches of text from this website. I'll update some where
necessary.
Okay let's start with a former major hobby of mine.

December 10th 2000, Feyenoord - Ajax: 3-1
February 1st 2004, Feyenoord - FC Twente: 3-2
Every weekend, you used to be able to find me in one of
the football stadiums that The Netherlands has, of which especially
the home-ground; the Feyenoord stadium. Better known as "De Kuip".
But visiting Feyenoord
wasn't something I only did for the football.
It was the atmosphere in the
stadium that made me shiver at time.
To stand there for 90
minutes, singing and cheering for your team to win.
That is sharing 1 passion
with more than 40.000 other same-minded people.
A passion that they call Feyenoord.
"Many people consider football to be just a side-issue in life.
Even if it is, it'll
always be the most important side-issue."

But that's all history for me...

No, I'm not talking about the Canary Islands.
This section of my homepage is dedicated to the
two little birds that used to fly through my (parents) house.

These are the birds that I've had since January 2002.
One was a male and the other a female. Last year
(2003, red) they've tried to make little birds.
They didn't really
succeed though. This year (2004, red)
they will, I'm positive. They're kinda special too.
Normally it's just the male bird who
sings.. they do this to
to attract female birds to have sex with. The naughty birds
don't really care. They just do it with any other
bird.
But I'm drifting off now. What I wanted to say is:
our female bird sings TOO! And that.. is kinda
special.

Not long after
I moved to Rotterdam these birds died. Partly due to the stress,
partly to
their age. These days (2008) I've got 1 canary, a parrot and a cat.
I will
show pictures of them with a next update.

Having grown up near a main railroad station, I've always
been fascinated by trains. Every time when I came out of school
I just had to go there, and I could watch many of these trains arrive
and depart. Being a little kid I also had to go in, during their station
stops, to just feel for a minute what it would be like to be a passenger.
One of these times, when I was sniffing around, the doors just closed.
I probably wasn't aware that this train was delayed and had to depart
as quickly as possible. So there I went; my first train-ride, totally
unexpected. My mom always had to tell me that I had to wait till I'd
be older. Fortunately (for my mom's health), the next station was only
12 minutes away. So it didn't take long before I got back home.
After that though, my love for train travelling has only grown bigger
and bigger. And I started dreaming of making far railroad journeys
to other countries. Nowadays, I have fulfilled those desires.
I have taken the train to go from The Netherlands to countries
like England, Belgium, Austria and Italy. But now I'm dreaming
of journeys with trains that speak a bit more to the imagination:

Last but not least. I'm supposed to write something about myself.
Or else it wouldn't be a personal homepage, right? You've read most
of it in the chapters above already. So you should know now that I've
got two birds, a passion named Feyenoord and that I love travelling by
train. In this chapter, I'm going to show you a few photos of me, too.

Born October 6th in 1980 in a city called Amersfoort. I'm now 27 years of
age. I've done highschool, 1½ years of technical college and ½ a year of
classes with a tourism college. You can say that I've got quite some
working experience. Having worked at two call-centres for over a year,
and for three years I worked at the Albron Travel Catering. My job there
was to provide train passengers with drinks, food and travel information.
After a short break from that - I went to tourism college
during the break,
I started working at the train catering again. Except I
worked for another
company. This company only had catering on the train line
between
Amsterdam and Brussels. All shifts started and ended in
Rotterdam,
and this was the main reason for me to move to this
city.
After having worked there for 2 years I decided (again) that it was
time
for something new. I searched the internet and found that the RET
was
looking to recruit new subway (train) drivers. I applied for this
job,
and was eventually hired as tram driver. I do this for almost 2 years
now.
A new change might be coming soon though. Stay tuned!
;-)
Below are a few more photos of me.

Come back soon, there might be updates!
